2. Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard
Most people who come here know that I am an avid gamer, especially first person shooters, and has been for the majority of my life. And I'm not alone, the game has been a phenomenon for at least 2 decades on a personal computer.
Why, then, has it taken until recent years that the keyboard is intended for gamers come from the depths of the abyss? I mean, for me, it's a no-brainer and a hole in the market. Except for some cheap attempt horrible, the ZBoard is a decent first effort that I see. And then the Saitek gaming keyboard. Both have interested me, but not enough to buy.
Leave it to Logitech. Soon after it was announced, I knew I would buy a G15 Gaming Keyboard. After several months of waiting, I think it will be released in October ... but the Logitech site, even at the time of this post, it still says "coming soon". Luckily I heard a tip that some have been seen in the Best Buys, and I found the keyboard on one of my local stores. It seems they may have some sort of limited-time exclusivity on the keyboard as a Logitech on other products such as a new MX510 mouse dthe G5 mouse.
So, I get the box home and plug the keyboard in. The driver installed perfectly and did not have much memory footprint. LCD screen when the display above the CPU, and RAM status, volume control, and even the songs I play with Winamp. Big blue light coming through each key is excellent. Small switch to turn off the windows is the perfect touch, and 18 macro buttons just waiting to be programmed.
The keyboard has a nice button that is not soggy or too rattley (is rattley word?). buttons were smaller (width) than the keys on my keyboard Logitech Internet Navigator, but they also travel farther and more responsive. I love the volume wheel, as I had one wheel on the keyboard before and much better than the buttons to control volume.
Like all Logitech keyboards I have used, wristrest is thin, but his job so far. The keyboard itself is very solid and quite heavy. Black plastic buttons and a satin finish flat on those who give the appearance of hard rubber.
As far as the keyboard has been proven very useful in the game. lighting is the main thing. Frankly I've never used a macro button a lot, but I'm testing on-the-fly macro making and works very well. Or you can use macro maker in the program profile, which allows finer tuning and editing.
A little expensive at $ 80, but the best gaming keyboards out there.
